2002 Winter Series IV Black Forest - 20K

Weather: Good running weather. Party cloudy, temps in the mid 40s
and rising to the low 50s. A little wind in the latter
miles of the 20K race.
Course: Rolling hills on paved and dirt roads. Most of the
course is within the forested area of Black Forest,
so there is some protection from any wind. But a
portion of the course (especially in the latter parts
of the 20K) are more out in the open. There are
spectacular views of Pikes Peak and the front range
mountains. Elevation is about 7000 feet.
This is the last race in the Winter Series. Since the 3rd race
was cancelled, the series this year will be based on 3 races,
namely the Fox Run race, and the two races in the Black Forest.
Thanks for participating, and thanks for your understanding
with the cancellation of the 3rd race. The weather conditions
were simply too brutal to hold a safe event for the runners
and the volunteers.
The Winters Series Awards Banquet and Auction will be held
at 5:45 pm on March 2nd. The location is the downtown YMCA
(207 North Nevada). It's always a fun evening. Bring a
dessert to share. The evening starts with dinner (a pasta
buffet) and sampling all the terrific desserts that everybody
brings. A crazy aution follows the dinner. You can bid on
all kinds of neat items. Proceeds from the aution go to the
CSFD Public Education Programs and the Feats of Fire Kids
Safety Run. Presentation of the Winter Series awards will
follow the auction. Bring the whole family and have a blast.
