The 2008 Winter Series II course will head north, rather than south, from the El Pomar Youth Sports Complex. Here are the details:
WINTER
SERIES #2 – NORTHBOUND
The
course is easy to follow. Please, note the new Start/Finish line. It is closer
to the office staging area and will ensure better footing. The trail is in
excellent condition, just a few spots where it could be icy on race day.
Except
for the first and last portions, the course is on the Pikes Peak Greenway Trail.
START/FINISH:
In El Pomar Youth Sports complex, halfway across the soccer field. It is on a
sidewalk crosswalk just north of a culvert. The south edge of the east/west
sidewalk is the designated line.
MILE
1:
Just past the Janitell overpass, in line with double power poles to the east and
north edge of a concrete wall to the west.

2:
Next to a chain link fence with a “NOTICE -------“ sign where vertical
privacy slats begin.
The mile 2 mark is adjacent to the waste management facility.

3:
At fork in trail where the trail converts from concrete to dirt. This is south
of the, “Black and White Body and Paint” shop just west of Tejon.
MILE
4:
Across Fountain Creek from the Drake Power Plant, in line with a light pole and
power transmission poles to the west. This is about 0.1 miles south of the
Cimarron Avenue Bridge.
