From
Rita Cardin,
Thanks for letting me advertise for this race. I'm not sure if anyone
is going to be crazy enough to do this with me, but I figured it'll be
worth a try! Basically, my plan is to leave
either on Thursday, Nov. 16th or Friday, Nov. 17th; run the race on the 18th,
and then travel back to Colorado on the 19th. It'll be about
a 12 hour drive one way. The entry fee is $20 before Nov. 11th, $25
after Nov. 11th and $35 on race day If at all possible, I'd like to know
if anyone is interested by the end of October so that hotel arrangements can
be made.
The Living History Farms 10k has been classified as the "Biggest
Cross-Country Race in North America" and it was also featured in the June
2005 issue of Running Times Magazine as one of the eight highlighted Great
American Trail Races. If anyone is interested, they can check out the
website:
www.fitnesssports.com, click
on "races" and that will bring up the Living History Farms race
information. (Be sure and check out the pictures to get a feel for the
race!)
It really is such a fun race, similar to the
Fall Series except there are a lot more runners (over 4,000 last
year), deeper water and steeper banks to climb.
Oh yeah-and lots of mud! The largest age group is the
college aged crowd so there's that carefree attitude. You can put
together teams, including co-ed and quite a few people dress up in costumes. A
regular to the race is a gentleman who dresses up as an Indian and runs
barefoot! It's also a fun race because you can decide to be serious
and try for a good time, or just have fun and not worry about your time!
I hope this was enough information for you. Obviously you won't be
able to put all of this on the page, so just come up with something good!
Thanks for doing this for me. I really appreciate it!
